20-something human RSS feed and, until recently, Acting Executive Producer of Hack - triple j radio’s national youth current affairs program. Currently roaming The Americas, sans deadlines, freewheeling between projects.
Previously heard on the airwaves as Hack’s Queensland reporter in Brisbane, as well as contributing to ABC Local Radio, Radio Australia, Radio National, Newsradio & ABC24.
Originally from the old sugarcane town of Nambour, Queensland - hometown to former PM Kevin Rudd, current Treasurer Wayne Swan and the drummer from Powderfinger. The "Big Pineapple" is often attributed to Nambour but it's actually closer to Woombye - a string of shops just off the highway.
Over the past year I’ve led the editorial direction of Hack, produced the daily program on air and managed two weeklong interstate broadcasts travelling through Queensland and Tasmania. I am also responsible for overseeing the production of multimedia content, which has broadcast on ABC24 and featured on ABC Online. The Hack team won the Media category at the Australian Suicide Prevention Awards for our coverage of mental health in 2011.
#1 iTunes News and Politics podcast in Australia – March 2012
#1 iTunes Australian podcast – February 2012
Since 2005 I’ve reported from some of the most isolated and intriguing parts of Australia, broadcasting to a national youth radio audience on a daily basis. I’ve interviewed a wide variety of politicians including Prime Minister Gillard in her former role as Deputy Prime Minister (and produced interviews in her current role as Prime Minister). In January 2011 I was seconded to Toowoomba for two weeks as member of the ABC Flood Recovery reporting team.
As part of the Australia Talks team I booked guests, wrote scripts and produced the live broadcast.
